Challenge

A Fortune 100 property and casualty insurer relied on an internal reporting dashboard for a large share of its day-to-day business intelligence. The reports were only as good as the data underneath them, and that data arrived from internal systems and outside business partners through warehouse loads and B2B feeds that needed to run reliably, on schedule, every time.

As the dashboard’s audience grew, so did the volume: tens of thousands of reports a month. At that scale, every manual step in getting data into the warehouse and every fragile hand-off between systems became a risk to the numbers people were using to make decisions.

Approach

TechnoFacto worked inside the insurer’s business intelligence group for just over two years, owning both ends of the pipeline:

  • Data in. We automated the data warehouse processes, building SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for the loads and the business-to-business ETL feeds, so data moved into the warehouse on a dependable schedule instead of through hands-on intervention.
  • Reports out. We wrote and managed the internal web reporting dashboard and the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Report Builder reports behind it, keeping the catalog maintainable as demand grew.

Working on both sides meant problems could be traced from a report back to the load that fed it, and fixed at the source.

Outcome

The dashboard supported more than 30,000 reports a month, on top of automated warehouse processes rather than manual ones. The work is a clear example of the TechnoFacto model: senior technical ownership embedded in a client team, focused on making data dependable at scale.
